What is Young Social Pioneers?
The Young Social Pioneers Program (YSP) is based on the International Youth Foundation's global initiative Youth Action Net (YAN). The International Youth Foundation (IYF) invests in the extraordinary potential of young people. Founded in 1990, IYF builds and maintains a worldwide community of business, governments, and civil society organizations committed to empowering youth to be healthy, productive, and engaged citizens. Established within individual countries, YAN Institutes select young people to participate in intensive learning programs. Each country institute's goal is to develop the already existing skills and capacities of young people who are not just talking ideas but implementing ideas. The country institutes are deeply rooted in the context where they operate. These institutes include: Mexico, Brazil, Jordan, Israel, Spain and Australia, with additional institutes planned in the future. In Australia, The Foundation for Young Australians' YSP Program is based on the International Youth Foundation's global initiative Youth Action Net. The Foundation for Young Australians is an independent organization committed to improving the learning outcomes and life chances of young people. FYA undertakes research, delivers education initiatives, invests in individuals and youth-led organizations and advocates on the issues that matter to young people. In 2010 The Foundation For Young Australians will select 14 Young Social Pioneers to take part in an all expenses paid one year program. The program enables young people to harness their pioneering spirit and equips them with the competencies and attributes to grow as social pioneers. International Youth Foundation Learn more
